your impact

Girls & Women

CAI is breaking the silence in East Africa around violence, early marriage, HIV and FGM engaging students, teachers, authorities, parents and elders. Girls and mentors implement events to mobilize communities - like a theater piece about rape, resulting in local leaders unanimously pledging to prevent gender-based violence. Or girls in the DaDaab Somali refugee camp learning about the Girls' Declaration of Rights and positive body affirmation.

If we hope to reverse biodiversity loss, we must generate dialogue, raise awareness, resolve conflict, shift negative behavior and build movements. In 2016, CAI completed 4 courses and 51 skill building clinics with 6 leading conservation partners, supporting 29 campaigns, initiatives and events engaging over 5,000 individuals across Belize and Guatemala.

Social Justice

From the personal to the systemic level, social leaders in the U.S. are responding to growing civil rights concerns by stepping up their capacity as allies across race and gender lines. In 2017, CAI will spearhead initiatives that get at the root of distrust and build greater connection and empathy through trainings and large-scale creative community actions.
