Dr. Peter Ndonwie leads an organization, that works tirelessly for human rights and gender equity in a remote district in northern Ghana, where most families survive on subsistence farming. Here, 67% of girls and women have never attended school and 17% of girls are married by the time they are 19 years old.
Dr. Ndonwie and many of his staff have participated in CAI's Creative Leadership trainings over the last two years. Applying the new tools and dynamic pedagogy, they implemented a series of teacher trainings, parent workshops, and community campaigns, with the goal of increasing the enrollment and retention of girls at school. As a result, there has been a 30% increase in the number of girls enrolling in their target schools, far exceeding the regular enrollment rate; retention has increased with 6,789 girls in school; and the number of child marriages have dramatically decreased.
Your investment in CAI has resulted in thousands of girls receiving an education in northern Ghana! Support our work to create powerful, lasting change for thousands more around the globe.
